Please run the Quick Checks below before submitting a support request.
These steps help isolate whether the issue is related to a battery,
headset, programming, or the radio itself and may resolve the issue
without requiring an RMA.
Radio shuts off or won’t power on after charging (Battery Issue) Quick checks
Possible causes
- Battery not holding a charge
- Dirty or damaged charging contacts
- Charger or power adapter issue
Try this first
- Swap batteries: Put the suspect battery into another same-model radio.
- If the issue follows the battery, the battery is faulty.
- If the issue stays with the radio, the radio likely has a power or charging issue.
- Test a known-good battery in the radio.
- Clean battery and radio contacts with a dry microfiber cloth.
- Check charger LEDs (red = charging, green = full).
Once isolated, a replacement battery may be required if the current battery fails these tests.
If the radio itself is confirmed as the cause, an RMA for repair or replacement may be necessary.
Headset not working or cutting out (Headset Issue) Quick checks
Possible causes
- Damaged audio cable or connector
- Worn or bent accessory-port pins
- Internal radio accessory-jack issue
Try this first
- Test the headset on another radio: if it works, the issue is likely the radio port.
- Try a different headset: if the new headset works, the original headset is defective.
- Inspect the connector and jack for debris or bent pins.
- Do not over-tighten threaded connectors.
If the headset fails on multiple radios, a replacement headset may be required.
If multiple headsets fail on the same radio, the radio may require service.
Radios power on but don’t communicate (Programming Issue) Quick checks
Possible causes
- Different channel, frequency, or tone/code settings
- Incorrect or outdated programming
- Firmware or configuration mismatch
Try this first
- Verify all radios use the same channel/frequency and tone/code settings.
- Recently purchased or replaced radios may require cloning or reprogramming.
- Identify one known-good “master” radio that communicates correctly.
If the issue is programming, please include a working master radio
with your RMA so settings can be cloned to the affected units.
